About Elevate your entertaining and tabletop vignettes with this exceptionally charming late Victorian English silverplated wine bottle coaster. Sourced from England and dating to 1880, this rare piece features a deeply flared, ornate gadrooned base edge rising into an intricate pierced basketweave body. The upper border is accented by a decorative repeating band, while the center displays a beautifully engraved historic armorial crest of a wild boar.
While traditionally designed to protect fine wood surfaces from wine bottles, its generous proportions and reflective interior make it a spectacular luxury candle sleeve. It fits standard pillar or jar candles perfectly, allowing the warm candlelight to shimmer through the open fretwork and dance across the highly detailed, polished silver exterior.
Dimensions 4”H x 3.5”D at top, 4.5”D at base
Condition This piece is in great antique condition and has been professionally replated in the UK, offering an extraordinarily bright, mirror-like finish. The ornate pierced work is fully intact and free of warping, and the bottom rim retains clear historic maker's marks. Light, authentic surface micro-scratches are present on the solid interior base from decades of traditional use.
